A National Merit Awardee and State Awardee, Tashi Doma Tshering is a contemporary artist and traditional Thangka painter from Darjeeling, West Bengal. She has played a significant role in reviving and promoting this art form, particularly in Darjeeling, which was once a thriving centre for Thangka painting.

She is actively engaged in educating younger generations of artists and women, having taught hundreds through her classes and various government training programmes.

A former banker who chose to follow her passion, she is committed to creating greater awareness of Thangka art, making it more mainstream, and reintegrating it into India’s artistic and cultural landscape—especially as India is the birthplace of this tradition.
